Budget of a Poor Bride
Hi Again, it’s your favorite poor bride here! Working out a poor bride’s budget can be time consuming and even a little sickening. I had no idea where to start. I hadn’t exactly had a savings account with some moola for a rainy day let alone an abundance of extra cash to blow on a one day event. So I had to put my thinking cap to work and come up with something I could actually afford. So I got out my trusty pen and paper and a calculator and set to work. I first took how much my fiancé and I make on a weekly basis and added it up to give me a monthly total. I then added up our monthly bills and expenditures and subtracted the total from our monthly salary. This number was what I had to work with. Let me show you how that worked out for my case.
Weekly Salary:
Me: $300 Fiancé: $300
Total monthly Income: $2400
Monthly Expenditures:
Rent: $565
Power: $120
Phone, Cable, Internet and Wireless: $220
Groceries: $400
Miscellaneous: $400
Total Expenses: $1705
Take Income – Expenses: $2400-$1705=
TOTAL EXTRA INCOME: $695
This amount of $695 was broken down to a weekly amount of approximately $170 a week that we could save for our wedding fund. This savings of $170/week gave us a wedding budget of $7490 (at an 11 month savings time frame). Of course, every bride knows that you want to underestimate to leave room for error and emergency expenses that could occur throughout the year. That gave me a total wedding budget of approximately $6000.00. Looks like a decent amount of money until you actually start breaking it down into a budget analyzer.
Great Budget calculators to use are located at a few wedding websites. Some of my favorites are:
Ourweddingday.com or Canadian Bride
I would have to say ourweddingday.com is my favorite because it offers a wedding webpage and full out planning tools much better than any of the other sites I have visited. It also has a very extensive timeframe checklist that can be tailored to your needs. Please feel free to check out these sites after you have worked out a savings plan and total wedding budget of your own. If you don’t have a budget, you can’t plan a wedding.
